A Simple Breathing Technique to Calm You and Your Animals

A Simple Breathing Technique to Calm You and Your Animals

A super simple solution for improving your life as well as your connection with your animals and the well-being of your animals is mindful breathing.  People often do not realize that their breathing pattern is unconsciously very shallow where they are not inhaling and exhaling to full capacity.  As an Animal Communicator and Intuitive Life Coach, I observe this in clients daily.

When we are stuck in our head….overthinking….distracted….stressed….preoccupied….we tend to not breathe at our deepest potential.  This effects our energy and the signals we are projecting….limiting us from truly connecting in with our own instincts and intuition….as well as clearly and objectively connecting in with our animals.

Animals respond to our energy so if we are weighed down with too many thoughts and we are stuck in our head….stressed and preoccupied…our animals could potentially be effected by this and/or misunderstand us.

This also effects our openness to understand what our animals our trying to communicate.  If we are not calm and limited in our breath, our animals could potential not feel calm and may become confused and concerned.

Not only does our limited breathing effect our understanding and connection with animals, it effects our understanding and connection with other people…. and most importantly….with ourselves and what is truly best for us in any given moment.

Breathing is something so obvious that people often take its profound healing and calming properties for granted.  Think about it – when someone is super stressed and freaking out….usually someone will say to them “…take a deep breath!”

The thing is….we don’t have to be panicking for breath work to be an important tool for helping to bring us clarity and improve our relationships with our pets, other people, and with ourselves.

There have been many times where I have been in a variety of situations and I catch myself and realize that I am not breathing very well.  I suddenly take a deep breath and realize….OMG….that’s all I needed….I feel so much better and its like I suddenly plug back into the depth, clarity and reality of what I am experiencing in the moment.

Whenever I am introducing a meditation practice, I always begin with a consistent breathing pattern.  But we don’t have to always dive deep into a meditation to realign ourselves with our instincts and intuition in any given moment.

A super simple technique is to focus on your breath and count to four as you inhale….then hold for a count of two….then exhale for a count of four.  You can feel into what the best speed and pace of your counting is for you…..the idea is to ground and center you….not to hyperventilate.

When you focus on the counting as you breathe….you are putting your attention on one thing…..your counting…..and this blocks out all of the other distractions….the monkey mind of various thoughts that take you away from your calm center.

You can focus on your breathing and counting as you inhale and exhale for 30 seconds to a minute….just as long as it feels right for you.  And you can do this anywhere and in any moment., while you are walking or training your dog, while you are showering, getting dressed, driving, before a big meeting, even during a big meeting.

The great thing about this technique is you can do it anywhere and at any time…..even with your eyes open…..because the focus on your breath and putting your attention on the counting as you breathe clears out all of the cluttering energy and distractions and elevates your energy and vibration to a higher level where you can see and understand everything more clearly….and you are elevated to a level where you are a match to attract other supportive energies and vibrations that are aligned with your happiness and calm centeredness.

It may seem so simple and obvious….but this process is very healing and profound.  You can even set a subtle alarm on your phone to go off every hour just to remind you to breathe using this process.  The more you are mindful of your breathing and are tapping into the focused stillness and depths of your breath…..the easier it becomes to find your calm in any given moment.  The more you find your calm center….the easier it will be for you to understand the needs of your animals and serve them to your highest potential.
