Do you ever notice your pets seem on edge when you’re stressed or anxious? As an animal communicator, I often see how stress, tension, and anxiety are not just human experiences, they are energies and frequencies that our pets can sense.

As a loving pet parents, we naturally want our pets to feel safe, calm, and balanced. But sometimes, without realizing it, we may unintentionally share our stress with them.

During animal communication sessions with people and their pets, I often notice that shallow or irregular breathing in humans can limit the connection with their pets.

Dogs, cats, and other animals are incredibly intuitive, they pick up on subtle changes in our energy, including our breathing patterns.

When we’re holding tension in our bodies, our pets can feel confused or anxious, which can affect communication and the bond we share.

Why Breathwork Matters for You and Your Pet

Breathing deeply is one of the simplest and most effective ways to clear stress and energy blocks. When you intentionally slow down your breath, you send a signal to your body and your pet that it’s safe to relax. Breathwork helps:

  • Release tension, anger, and anxiety

  • Improve your energetic connection with your pet

  • Open channels for more intuitive communication

  • Create a calm, grounded space for learning and training

The 7-Breath Technique

Here’s a simple, practical technique you can start using today:

  1. Take 7 deep breaths—inhale slowly, counting to seven, then exhale fully.

  2. Check in with your pet—notice how they respond, whether they lean into you, relax, or show signs of calm.

  3. Move forward intentionally—whether it’s practicing a training exercise, communicating energetically, or just sharing quiet time, approach your pet from a place of calm and balance.

Even just a few minutes of this practice can create a noticeable shift in your energy and your pet will feel it too.

Animals experience the world through energy and vibration. Stress doesn’t need to be spoken aloud, they sense it in our body language, our tone, and our breathing patterns.
